It’s up to us how we handle them and make positive environment for ourselves. Here are five tips to get out of negativity that I’ve hand picked from a self-help book, ‘You Are A Badass’ by Jen Sincero.

1. Practice affirmations:
Affirmations simply means positive statements. Affirmations help us to change our mind set from negative to positive. For example, instead of saying ‘I am so bad at this’ say ‘I am learning to get better’. You are what you think, so make sure you think positive.

2. When somebody compliments you, say ‘Thank you’:
If somebody compliments then it is for a reason. Don’t try to be modest and act as if you don’t deserve it. You need to believe in yourself that you did a good work and people are appreciating it. So when there’s a compliment coming on your way, welcome it with a ‘Thank you’.

3. Avoid self-depreciating humor:
It’s good to make other people laugh. It makes us happy doing that. But self-deprecating humor is not cool. Nobody is going to respect you if you don’t respect yourself.

4. Don’t compare:
People have their own stories and own hardships. The important thing is to make use of what you have and create great things out of it. Comparing yourself with others will bring nothing more than jealousy. So stop comparing!

5. Forgive yourself:
Mistakes are there to teach you a lesson and prevent future loss. Regretting and complaining about what happened in the past will result in lack of self confidence and self belief. Forgive yourself for your mistakes and focus on your future instead.

The world is made up of both good and bad things.
