We can find many tips and suggestions in order to develop ourselves to be a banker. But what about a refined banker? One who does his duties well, both to the organization and to the society at large? Thanks in advance!

Every Banker ( say a refined banker) is expected to have his/ her own code of conduct that he/ she lives by. Number of financial & banking crisis have been caused by avarice, recklessness, moral hazard, risk-taking and hence the ethics of bankers & banking have come under increasing scrutiny by regulators and even by society. For eg. some banking products are highly sophisticated and an average customer may not have a good understanding of the working of these products.

A good banking practice is to provide customers with adequate & necessary information so that they are enabled to make the right & informed decisions. Apart from providing banking services, every banker has a responsibility of doing the right thing and act with integrity.

In this backdrop, it must be said that to be a refined banker, one should not only be able to provide, design, structure, or sell banking products but also act responsibly, not mis-sell banking products, act with integrity and treat clients fairly. In the end, we are all capable of many things in all directions, of great virtues & greater sins.
