Following the Law of Attraction

It was just one of such regular days back in 2014 when I was surfing YouTube. I am very much interested in psychology and spirituality, so I went through some videos to enhance my knowledge. Then after some while, I watched a video titled “Law of Attraction.” The concept was pretty new to me. I had never been introduced to such terminology in my life before. I casually went through. It was a brief video of around 15 minutes with a story-like flow.

The video presented a brief narrative story with selective pictures that were related to the theme. I was extremely fascinated with the video. It was an eye-opener for me. I learned that the only difference between rich people and old, successful people and unsuccessful people is the mindset. I realized how every action was interconnected to prior incidents that took place in my life. It taught me how my thoughts became my speech, my speech my actions, my actions my habits, and my habits my characters. Our characters tune our life. I felt terrible for being pessimistic at many times and how it further gave negative experiences. I could remember many such events where I was very negative or anxious, and similar things had happened to me. I came to understand why  the rich keep on getting richer, whereas the poor ones continue getting even poorer. It is all because the rich only think about  wealth and prosperity whereas the poor can think only of poverty nd hence dwell in their debts and problems. As we think, so we become.

The video created a huge impact on me. Somehow, it changed my life and gave me a reality check. I researched more about it and got to know about a book titled “The Secret” which provided me a detailed idea about the power of thoughts. It talks about how our mind and the Universe are connected, and thinking of negative thoughts means giving negative signals to the Universe and how it tends to bounce back.

Then, I decided to follow what I had learned through the research. It was difficult for me to stay positive, deliberately, as I am generally an anxious person. Nevertheless, I forced my mind towards good thoughts. One fine day, I saw an advertisement on Facebook about a national beauty pageant “Miss Global International 2014.” I have always wished to participate in beauty pageants ever since I was 12. For me, the major attraction was Miss Nepal 2002 Malvika Subba, whom I admire a lot, as the choreographer of that pageant. I had a positive mindset throughout the training period and the main event. I focused on evolving personally, rather than competing with other contestants. Every day was interesting and it was a great learning experience. I did not miss a chance to bring out the best in me everyday.

After all the learning, the main event took place. To break the sad news, I did not qualify for the top 10 but I did not take it as a defeat. In the sequence, the event host announced the subtitle winners where I was awarded the prestigious title of “Miss Personality” which meant much to me. After winning the title, I conducted several personality development programs, collaborating with NGOs, for small children. I got numerous opportunities in beauty pageants, I am forever grateful for that.

That incident, overall, made me believe in the power of the right mindset. Ever since then, I have tried my best to remain optimistic and think only the best out of every situation. It has not always been practically possible, but whenever I am surrounded with negativity, I think of the law of attraction which instantly helps me focus on positives.
