Biman Basu (b. 1945), who postgraduated n chemistry from the University of Delhi, began his career as a lecturer in Hans Raj College He then joined the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research as assistant editor of their science journal. Between 1974 and 1977 he was on deputation to All India Radio as a science correspondent. He rejoined CSIR in 1977 and is currently the editor of Science Reporter and heads the production unit of the National Institute of Science Communication. Besides contributing sciencel articles to leading national dailies and monthlies, he has written two popular science books in Bengali and one in English—Inside Stars. He is winner of the 1994 NCSTC National Award for best science and technology coverage in the mass media.
